In addition to Sunday worship, special events are held from time to time at Christ Church, some traditional and some new. However, due to COVID-19, no special events will take place at Christ Chruch Dark Harbor in the 2020 season. We look forward to having our beautiful chapel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, once again used for baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and memorial services of all faiths, concerts and recitals.
Blessing of the Animals
In the summers of 2016 and 2018 Christ Church has held a Blessing of the Animals service, complete with liturgy and music that celebrated all our beloved pets, including teddy bears!

Baptisms and Weddings
Starting a new life, or a new life together, is a most memorable occasion at Christ Church. Baptisms and weddings are some of our most memorable services.
Music is a special part of life at Christ Church, and includes periodic community-wide concerts and special performances. The Yale Whiffenpoofs of 1954 (left) joined our choir for a memorable summer service.
Each summer, Christ Church hosts a number of special events for the Islesboro community. During the 2015 season, we presented a theatrical dramatization of St. Mark’s Gospel featuring the actor Tom Bair reciting from memory the entire 14,949 words of the Gospel.
Each year, the first Sunday in August celebrates the founding of Christ Church in 1892 by John Turner Atterbury, Jeffrey R. Brackett, William Ingham, William Ellis Scull, and Dexter Tiffany.
On August 5, 2018 we celebrated the 125th anniversary of Christ Church.
